Super Bowl Commercial Awards

The Favorite: Out of the many lackluster car commercials Auto’s stood out with their ‘Cashew’. Funny, clever and actually showing the product they’re selling, this commercial checked all the boxes.

Want to Hate: I wanted to hate the “Mirror”, it’s a product that completely capitalizes on the most self indulgent qualities of our society. The only thing the product seemed to be missing was the ability to post directly to Instagram. All this being said I’m sure this product will sell.

What’s with all the robots?

Missed the Mark: Verizon’s commercial focusing on first responders being thanked by a former NFL player was touching but there was a complete disconnect from what viewers saw and the connection to Verizon.

Personnel Connection: My college roommate thought that white people actually got their haircut with bowls on their head. I think bud light might have confirmed that theory for somebody out there.

All the Feels: Easily goes to the Microsoft commercial ‘We All Win’. It had a touching message tied to one of their new products and to quote one super bowl watch party attendee, “I’m shook”. Verizon should take note, you can have a successful sentimental ad but it doesn’t mean much if viewers don’t know it’s yours.
